Fabian Enrique Correa Güette is regarded as a dynamic, engaging, and captivating percussionist. Audiences often find themselves captivated by his fluidity onstage. Born in Cartagena, Colombia, Fabian started playing percussion at age 11 in Ciudad Escolar Comfenalco where he studied concert and Latin percussion with Elber Cediel and Afro-Colombian percussion with Fernando Vargas. At age 14, He was part of the youth orchestra that performed at the Cartagena International Music Festival in January of 2011.
In demand as professional percussionist, he has performed with the Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra, Danville Symphony, Rapides Symphony Orchestra, South Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, Sulphur Springs Symphony Orchestra, and Bolivar Symphony Orchestra. Fabian was recently selected as one of the percussionists of the Youth Orchestra of Colombia 2021 and was a member of the Orchestra Academy of the Americas 2020. Other notable performances in his career have taken place at important conferences such as WASBE, National Conference for Percussion Pedagogy, Louisiana Days of Percussion, LMEA, among others. He was also part of the Louisiana All-Star Collegiate Percussion Ensemble in 2019.
Fabian also enjoys teaching and has interests in music education. He has presented several masterclasses in Texas, Louisiana, and Colombia, in addition to teaching lessons to students of varying levels.
Fabián Correa holds a Master degree in Music Performance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He also holds both a Bachelor of Music in Music Performance and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering and Technology summa cum laude from Northwestern State University of Louisiana. He is currently pursuing a Performance Diploma in Orchestral Studies at Chicago College of Performing Arts under the Tutelage of Vadim Karpinos (Percussionist/Assistant Principal Timpani of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra), and Edward Harrison (Principal Timpanist of the Lyric Opera of Chicago).
During his free time, Fabián enjoys playing and watching soccer, and playing FIFA on his Xbox series s.
Fabián is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and the Percussive Arts Society.
